I had to comment this one first.. Back in 198x (?), drive to the city with my mom (i’m 10 or 11). Have to buy some floppy for my CPC. Don’t know anything about demos, piracy, cracktro, protected games (even if i didn’t understand why i don’t succeed in making a working backup from my last ninja 2 original !!).. I enter a big computer shop : an amiga is just in front of me, with a very nice animation, nice music, catching my interest with a golden logo, stars, a background with strange monks, a logo and a text… Read more »
to come again..i never forget this first moment i saw this one and heard this tune… at this moment the c64 was history (just for a small time ofcourse 🙂
btw. it’s the only unit a intro i’ve ever seen. how many different ones did they do? i can see this one (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13558) but are there more?
Can’t believe I haven’t commented on this – of course an all-time classic intro, like Axis I think I sat and stared at this and read the scroller for hours 🙂
Spiv: Me too, then i noticed a comment by Dreamtide (whose ex-handle was Diz/Unit A):
"Hi! Just for the record. All Unit / songs have been done by, me. Besides, yes, Darius is the author of mark ii and there was one piece on the initial disk (which was called ‘mark ii’ too as far as I recall) which i liked better than all the stuff i made. if anybody has pieces of his mark ii disk, preferably in a more common format now, i would be more than happy to hear from you."
loooooooooooooool, tcb, i don’t think, that unit a "borrowed" ideas from black reign on 64. the three monks were used on the cover of a game called "ultima v". think both graphicians liked role playing games… as for the unit a intro: an absolute classic, i think i remember this one with a different music, too. but this one with the outing of g?nther kraemer has the better music in my opinion. to jelux: jep, remember that headbanger intro of 86/87. one of the first, i saw on amiga. a nice one in the early years too was by major… Read more »
As a matter of fact, this is based on a C-64 intro from ‘Black Reign’. Not sure whether they had any members in common or whether it was a plain rip, but they’re too similar for it to be a coincidence…
THE Unit A Intro, gosh, didnt seen it for over 15 years now. I always found this intro stylish in its own way, with the "united artists"-like logo and the three monks behind it.
Is this the same ‘Guenther Kraemer’ who worked on the ‘Rainbow Arts’ Game ‘The Wall’?
LEGEND !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

WoW…..nothing more 2 write….
Nice scrolltext. Vibrant intro.
still rocks after 22 years
Ooozing with nostalgia!
Now there is (well has been for some time) a very nice info about Unit A on scenery, written by Diz/Unit A http://www.exotica.org.uk/wiki/Unit_A
btw. it’s the only unit a intro i’ve ever seen. how many different ones did they do? i can see this one (http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=13558) but are there more?
I dont think they are in the original 🙂
Talking about the 3D stars, they look like a looped animation. 🙂
I Don’t know if it’s like that in the original intro.
As i remember it, the 3d stars were way ahead of their time. They became popular years later.
Classic, used to watch this one alot back then.
First intro i ever saw on amiga. Still love this one.
IMO the logo was inspired by the United Artists logo.

Indeed, that is curious:O_o
Why is there no info about Unit A in the "Info Scenery Amiga" site ? :/
Can’t believe I haven’t commented on this – of course an all-time classic intro, like Axis I think I sat and stared at this and read the scroller for hours 🙂
yes i’m sitting in front of it for hours, too… :love
amazing.. so much atmosphere. i also remember sitting infront of F-18 and listening to the music hour after hour.
fantastic intro – another classic one! :love

That is correct scheisslogin: http://www.thelegacy.de/Museum/1417.
didn’t frank neuhaus switch to the legal side and became coder of games like pinball wizard and zoom! and tools like x-copy?
yep i would also like to know axis 🙂
i’m interested in what have the unit a members done after the end of unit a?

an excellent classical one… in the same league with the ESI intro with the eagle on C64…:D
I always thought it was Mark II of Quadlite :dozingoff
The composer of the mod was apparently Diz of Unit A
I believe this intro was ported to the PC, and I’ve definitely seen it run on the C=64.
http://amigamusic.tripod.com/Crack_tunes/SW/Unit_A1.zip
i have it on my pc.. it was named… "Unit A.Mod" ..
if you want it.. mail me at:
what is the name of the module?
