Similar case like with Hotline. Great C64 group with unfortunatelly not much of the success on Amiga… Still, top3 in C64 biz!

Not too bad, the copper colours are a bit garish even for the 1980’s 🙂 Weren’t the Anco games quite well protected for the time? Who are “United Crackers”?

Doubtful XR35 was, but from Kick Off 2 onwards is where they used their Cobra X-Rom protection system. Quite daunting at first when you encounter it, lots and lots of decryption loops, lots of checksums inside the code, several protection track reading routines, but once you’ve done one, the rest follow very quickly because they just didn’t change how it operated. Easily missed though as the protection track doesn’t appear in a warper or copier, so Anco got more sneaky with later games by not having them fail so soon, so a load of groups released some of the Anco… Read more »
