Cheers to old sceners and friends from that period of time

Hello Duncan, i hope you’re doing well. It has been quite a time by now. It was a pleasure to have been part of your team. An experience which shaped my future and would like to thank you for that. I’ve lost track too with Gonthar who turned to prof cycling. May god bless you all and your families. Rgds Sir004

TCB: Duncan went from The Band to Angels and was the "host" of the Jumet-BP. Given that Belgium is a really small country and had significantly less Amiga-sceners than any other neighbouring country, it is remarkable to see how many POBOX’s for major groups were here. It was even more interesting to track their groups-trace. Would be an interesting topic Yes, it would be an extremely interesting topic, especially to a scene historian such as myself. Who knows more and is willing to spill the beans? Also what was the deal with Beder in Denmark, and Mouscron in Belgium? From… Read more »

Well regarding Beder in Denmark, IBM was living there so it was his postbox and went with him if he changed group. (Crystal and later Paradox)

I think Goldfish was from Antwerp; quite a distance from Mouscron. My bet on Mouscron is that it was a French guy that rented it and just hopped over the border from time to time. Lille (one of the main cities in North-France) is not too far away from Mouscoun which is a border town in Belgium. France had a lot more strict copyright laws and the French were (rightfully) more paranoid.

@Gonthar : so simple can the life be 😀 nice to get some backround after all this years! i see him first 1988 as he arrived on our copy party and i will never forget the picture of this nice "Rocker" on his motorcyle and my face after he said "Hey i’m coming from Belgium. I’m from "The Band" 😀 i’m angry to have no pictures from this party and this early years.. digicam was not born at this time. shit! but if you see him any day again send him some greetings! i forgot so much faces but not… Read more »

@Axis_cascade: that would be Duncan of course. Belgian (French part), spoke hilarious English and indeed always had a beard out of which you could chase, well, just about anything 😀
He was indeed one of the oldest guys in the group, which made him "ze leader"… I remember when we created ‘The Band’, it was in his room and we we dediced to "hook up", all we needed was a group name. He pulled a record out of one of his closets, ‘The Last Waltz’ from "The Band", and there you have it: The Band was born. 🙂

: 20 years ago one of the band members drives with the motor cycle around europe to the copy partys.. at this time i have thought he was 40 , a man with a long beard and biker style.. hehe i was suprised to see with my fresh 15 years a so old guy in the scene.. i remember he was always a very good contact..
i forgot his name… :dontgetit

Tune is from the game Astaroth and made by Hippel. This sounds slightly weird though. Lot of intros featured different parts from Astaroth tunes, some of them were playing in double speed etc.

Nice to see that, apparently, what we did 20 years ago is still not forgotten today. Gonthar/The Band (or should that be ex-The Band? 🙂

yiiiiiipa… I loved this one, and still do. The song is nice, the stars are cool, I like the fonts, and the easy design. It rocks 🙂

Rob; Darn, it was easier said then done apparently. I have been trying to rip the damn tune to now. Shit out of luck so to speak. The best I can find is some really corrupt noisepacker tune and I doubt that one is really it. No ripper seem to be able to find it. Must indeed be some very exotic format, but I somehow doubt that.

nice one! thats really nostalgic…

: i had the tune on my system, before i made a backup. 🙂
it’s an exotic format. i think there is also another version of this one.

You could download the intro (link on top) and rip it.

Musashi9; BP3 60340 Jumet, Belgium. Seem to recall that being Duncan or Bob Duncan.

Angels. They released two versions. First one they forgot to crack and
second one was cracked and trained. Both versions uses the same into.

The intro has similarities to the one used on The Spy Who Loved Me, " cracked "
by Angels.
Is it programmed by the same guy ?

Pure nostalgia… thanks for converting that one Musashi9, remember it well from my Amiga days.

Dooh! Perhaps I shouldn’t be doing stuff like this at 4 am or whatever the time was … sorry.

What was fixed? The tune still cuts before the "drums" begins. Damn it is scary how much of this one just remembers. I wonder how much of my brain is devoted to recalling all this old stuff. BTW Found another bug, the scroll text when it ends just cuts 3/4 in the screen and jumps back … might want to add a few more blank spaces.

Sweet! But is that the full tune? Doesn’t it end when it is really supposed to begin?
