What an awesome tune… I feel so sad that those times are gone… It was a better time then. Machine code in ASM-One / Devpac / Seka or bust. Executables were small. Routines were fast. Things were simple. And this music, it has a sad note in it, that seems to sing of those times…

Thanks for info. Didnt realise some many variations.
I have just looked through all the links and mods you’ve mentioned, but there isnt a mod exactly same as this one used in intro, same bpm etc. This bpm version is the best version in my opinion. Maybe this tune is used in a demo somewhere where it can be ripped? AS3 doesnt find anything in the original SR WoD cracktro.
I think the tune wasn’t composed in a mod tracker, rather it was made using ASM code line for line so it will be impossible to open and edit it, like you would a normal tracker mod. The source code for Ron Klarens tunes was floating around years ago but I can’t seem to find them now.
Wow. If that is indeed the case, that was a very Commodore 64-like approach, where the tune was always an integral part of the replay routine, and was not a format, but a stream of bytes. I think Deltamusic on Amiga had the same approach? Anyone? Does anyone here know the history behind 20CC code + data fused into music approach? Why wasn’t there a structured data format like a MODule, and the replay routine separate on Commodore 64? Space requirements would still be the same, and it would have been much cleaner architecturally. I think Future Composer did in… Read more »
