Yeah, it’s packed with UPX. Not the best EXE packer, but it’s OK… And I
have no idea why certain anti-virus programs recognizes it as a
virus…

The virus is surely just the executable packer. :p

The cracktro is 20kB in size, and it’s supposed to look like a C64
cracktro, that’s why everything is lowres — At least the cube is lowres
in the real cracktro, but here it’s 1:1 pixel ratio, feels odd indeed.
This cracktro wasn’t done, but I passed the source code to Skid Row in
hope that their coders would spice it up a little, but it didn’t happen
and it was instantly used in a game. 🙁

(ugly) source code and binary release: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/4846123/Skid%20Row%20cracktro.rar

The cube is utterly out of place. Lowres logo and scroller, and then a hires cube that gives the impression of losing perspective because part of it is obscured by the logo.

I think if the cube wasn’t obscured, it wouldn’t give the impression of losing its perspective, but either way, the intro would be better without it.

It’s Annatar’s eyes needing correction tho I saw the same thing, I thought the cube was out of shape until I opened my eyes

Annatar: wireframe cubes can fool your eyes sometimes – you see the back of the object as the front and, when that happens, the perspective looks wrong. I don’t think this cube has any actual perspective issue.

it’s good but the cube doesn’t belong, if the logo slammed into the text scroller, and then bounced that would be way better. ashame the coder lost motivation… apparently 😉 cool alien logo but the music is high pitch melody that really hurts your ears wearing headphones.

9 out of 10: the logo could have been in hires and the wire frame cube routine has an issue with perspective correction.

Other than that, love the design, and love the font!

Nice logo & music… Does it’s job as a cracktro! 🙂
Would probably look better without the linecube.

Kewl little intro! Love the C64 style. Also remember the Bizzmo font from the old WOW and Illusion intros on C64.

Nice enough – as said, very C64 in style with the logo colours and also the scroller / scroll font. Tune is good.

Normally I really like wireframe vectors but the cube here just looks out of place in my opinion with it being partly cut off behind the logo. At the least it should be completely visible and at best they should have had several objects and swapped / morphed between them as there not too much more code required to do something like that.

I don t care if old or new Skid-Rowdies, New or Oldschool … I acknowledge that Alien PDX is a driving force and consistent contributor to the scene since many years…
Kudos to you, Skid Row and everyone else who keeps the spirit alive! Nice Intro and nice chippy for a good release!

nice actual stuff from 21.08.2012. very oldskool with c64 style logo. like the bouncing of the scroller too. the monochrome cube doesn’t fit imho
