Nice Code by Ivo Herzeg aka. Mr. Cursor. A friend of mine knew him very well and was taught assembler by him. Did you guys know, that he was involved in the Production of Games like “Far Cry” or “Crysis 1-3”?

Seems he was also involved in the “Ryse” games, which are absolutely terrible 😛 Still, I’m sure it’s not his fault + he has a pretty good CV overall 🙂 Legendary coder indeed…

The idea was quite good indeed, but…. Well, it was coded in 1988 so my respect anyway.

I like everything here, rasters, the isometric logo, scroller, music…

The design was dated even back in 1988, but the vertical scroller makes up for it, since it was uncommon. The tune is a classic.

Those rasters alone resume all the story… Before starfields or scrolltext, this was for me THE scene effect. It reminds me of the C64 demo from Rebels on the Amiga, which retraces the story of this effect on the C64.

I was thinking of doing one of these raster effect intros in the C=64 style on the Amiga. Set up both of my machines to do me a little coding in ASM-One and then it busted (messed up screen), on the A1200 probably because of the capacitors or the DblPal driver, and on the A500 because I’m running a Vampire 500+ V2 in 1390x1024x32.

But one of these days, I’m gonna find some way to do it again. Emulation is out of the question, did that and it was painful.

Future Freaks tune is well remembered and was also used in “The Omega Writer” which ran non stop on my commy due to the tune. I recall we even recorded this on tape to have it on our walkmans. =D Sweet memories.

Hey, I used to use that writer! The one with the sphere throwing letters on the screen, correct?
