This intro is not about the code, it is about breaking new ground with professional, polished graphics, excellent music, "less is more", and about influencing an entire genre. Many intros that came after this one were influenced by it, as is evident from the style in the mid- to late ’90s, style which can be clearly discerned even in the modern PC intros today. This intro was avantgarde for the time. It is considered a masterpiece of craftsmanship. It is art.

Terminal Storm: One of my all time favs. Hypnotic and relaxing. I remember staring at it and listening to Nao’s awesome MOD for hours… Same here… Atrox and I wrote our highschool theses listening to this masterpiece… Something good can also come from Greece When I talked to Stelios, I was under the impression he was from the UK, although "Stelios" is Greek. Overall, Nao’s superb music and the sharp, professional graphics make this intro a masterpiece. This work is among the first to pave the way for the style of intros that will follow the so-called "new school" of… Read more »
I’m not too good at explaining things, but… Blitter tornado has nothing to do with real fractals. It is basically a feedback effect (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzzktnjKkVg, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj9pbs-jjis) between 2 buffers and routine that copies blocks of data between them in such a way that center is practicaly stationary while the edges have biggest "jumps", which are actually sort of (dx, dy) vectors that appear (in linear combination) as combination of zooming and rotating. (Told you I suck at explaining things). Also, the fractal edges are created by shifting origins of those copy blocks, and are really the product of accumulation of mathematical… Read more »
In ultra simple terms, as I understand it, this blitter tornado effect is basically circular copying of random pixel data that’s being pushed into the centre of the bitmap. Copying random data in this way creates the fractal looking patterns. Someone who’s actually made the effect can probably explain it better though 🙂
What a wonderful tune for this wonderful cracktro…
Perfect sunday afternoon tune…

I don’t think the fractal zoomer had so much theoretical thinking in background when I did one 😉 (regarding the explanation what was in the previous URL).
Yup, 10/10 for this one! Superb blitter tornado effect, suitable music (I’m not sure I would listen to it separately, but it suits the intro as background music perfectly), everything is just right here.
The blitter tornado is definitely a beautiful effect and I agree with Mr.Spiv – it’s been done here with real polish, especially the way the tornado "clouds" billow across the logo. Tune really suits it too. An all time classic that’s for sure. Great work on the conversion TStorm! 🙂

Definitely one of the best cracktros ever (except the zik is not my style.. good still). The font is cool, and not to mention the fractal zoomer effect on multiple planes that hides the logo every now and then. Something good can also come from Greece 😀

Funny thing is that neither my rip of the MOD, nor the ones I’ve found on the net seem to play the way the original intro plays it (the beginning of it, that is). Even in ProTracker. So, in order to make it feel ‘more real’, I’ve added one extra pattern to the MOD – about 9 extra seconds at the start. Hopefully I got the notes just right. 🙂
