I remember his “Fate – Gates of Dawn – English” filed version.
BUT! AFAIR (to be confirmed by Phil himself or someone who did spend few long days to finish it) even his version was not 100% working. It was most probably due not to his lack of cracking talent, but the game (most probably only English version of) itself. The game (the English version at least, as I mentioned here above) is impossible to be finished without Action Replay help and on-the-fly code corrections.
As for the crackers.. Hehehe.. Well, every country had its very gifted individual(s).
A 100% version was mostly a crack redone from scratch, making sure all protection-schemes were removed. A lot of groups -under time pressure to release- spread half-cracked or even non-cracked versions of a game onto the boards. This was then fixed with a 100% release. Sometimes the 100% was not even 100% and you would see 101% or 110% releases 🙂
Phil Douglas was not a real name, it was his handle.
Phil Douglas, the man the myth the legend… one of the few guys who released 100% versions of games everyone else ‘accepted’ were working or were cracked as well as they could be!

What is a "100%" version of a game? And why did this man use his real name when cracking games?
Sorry for those question, but I really don’t understand!
