Why does all Adlib produced music sound so tin-canned, as opposed to Amiga’s soft sound? Couldn’t Adlib play digital samples like the Amiga?
How was the replay timing done, since the PC has no vertical blank?
Post scriptum: I see now that Adlib couldn’t do PCM, which means no sampled sound. That explains the “tin-canedness”. I’d still like to know how the replay routine timing was done?
No. We are talking about a completely different technology… One can not compare Amiga digital audio (PCM 8bit modulation) to Adlib’s YM (3812 model) sound chip based on the FM synthesis/modulation. We may eventually compare Adlib to Paula and its synthesis, and still. Adlib cards were unable to play PCM sound samples. Yamaha had a very wide range of sound chips. Different ones were used in the Mega Drive, Sharp X68000 “god’s machine” and on the arcade PCBs…
supplied by JFK? shouldn’t it be, by djt … donald j. trump? anyway nice mod!
hehe.. JFK is right 😉
Still quite a bit of Amiga feel in this one 😉
Not bad, very nice logo. Tune isn’t to my taste, very simple code.
Ahh some Adlib PC soundcard goodness!
