1988 all the way 🙂 Nice pixels, well these were the times of Arnold (Conan, Commando), Stalone , JCvD, etc. For nostalgia reasons I quite like it 🙂

For 1988 this is a nice intro especially as I don’t believe there were too many sceners in NZ at that time. BAZ made a few nice mods although I think NB used this track in a number of their releases.

One look at this and I thought “1988”. And ‘lo and behold, 1988 it was. Just cannot stomach those early intros. When I watch those, I’m glad I was still on Commodore64 at that time because it was the Zenith of intro design there. Intros didn’t start being slick on the Amiga until 1990, then the Amiga scene exploded exponentially and we had awesome intros from that point on. If you look at the Amiga intros in the ’80’s, you can just tell people were still learning the hardware. Nothing wrong with that, but the result is commensurate with it.… Read more »

Do you think they should have held back their 1988 releases until 1990 when they had mastered sinus scrollers, filled vectors and rave tunes? These intro remakes document the evolution of Amiga coding and design as you say. It’s not always pretty, but neither were plenty of releases from 1990 onwards. One could argue that intros became increasingly generic as time went on, whereas the early days produced some bizarre and imaginative gems. This might even be one of them.

We’re in agreement that yes, it documents the evolution and sophistication and yes, there were some imaginative ideas, but it’s not actually the code that is lacking, it’s the design: the graphics and music are horrible. The effects are alright. You know what they say, “treat others the way you want to be treated”: I wouldn’t have released something just for the sake of releasing it, which is pretty harsh and exacting, so I use the same standard when evaluating these. The world has too much slack these days, wouldn’t you agree? Would you underwrite this horrible ear grating of… Read more »

I take Bambam listed as a member is not the same who was sysop in Quartex and stuff?
There were far too few “heavy metal” mods back in day so props for that!

I for one am thankful that there were so few (for example, this one is really grating on the ears, one could say it’s ear rape). I’ll take laser disco over metal any day of the week.

Odd that they drew a picture of a ballet dancer changing a lightbulb who gets struck by lightning…

I kinda like it, even its plethora of ST-01 samples! Its an intro of its time, obviously if someone released it as a new production today, people would stare and wonder what the hell was going on, but this was 1988, so its fine for its time.

Probably the most homoerotic intro on this site so far 🙂 I confess to quite liking the tune, especially when it goes nuts…
