I dont think NOP’ing 1188 & 118E, or making 1178 or 1184 always BRA to 1194 results in a working game. It does bypass/fix the 26 second time crash, but after every game when Mr Miyagi speaks or says Match Over, the game just sits there? (You can press F1, but this restarts 1 player game)
Making 24822 always move 00 00 into 61A does result in a working game.
I’m also able to grab 600 – 59000 for complete game too.

You are right. 61A is checked several places, so it is very important it is set to 00 00, as described in the tutorial. Thank you for the comment
