Ghouls ?N? Ghosts ?

US Gold ?

You will need following:

1. Original game ? find on romshare.com
2. An Amiga or WINUAE
3. Action Replay or ROM image
4. Pencil and paper

Start by making a copy of original game disks. You will notice an error on
track 79 on disk one. This is most likely to be
some sort of a copylock

Boot copy of game. After some loading the track counter goes to track 79. A
second after, your computer crashes.
This doesn?t happen with original game, so this must be the copylock kicking
in. Reboot game, when track counter goes
to track 79, enter AR. Hit ?D? and enter a few times. Something
like this should appear:

Hmmm. We are in the 2B400 area of memory. Try to disassemble address 2B400 and
hold enter down, when you
reach bottom of screen, use curser up to scroll back up with until you see this:

Success! It seems like this routine starts at address 2B400. Let?s see
if anything jumps into this address.
Type: ? FA 2B400 ?, it will only return one address. Address 1841C
makes a ? JSR ? to address 2B400. Perhaps we can find this
? JSR ? in the game. Lets load the game main file into memory. Type:
? LM GHOULS.PRG,30000?, see pic:
Notice that the file is located between 30000 ? 44084. This information
is needed when we shall save file back to disk.

Search for the ? JSR ? into address 2B400; ? FA 2B400 30000
?. Almost immediately address 3001C will pop up. Insert three
? NOP?s ?, at address 3001C + 3001E and 30020. This will remove
the jump into the protection.

Save file back to disk with: ? SM GHOULS.PRG,30000 44084 ?
Restart game and see what happens.

The crap? game actually starts!
Dedicated to sweet sweet Victoria.
