Funny story about #27 (DCS3) for CROC 2 game. Somehow around year 2000, I was hanging around GBC stuff (subport, irc, etc.). Visiting local console shop and looking for some ‘retro’ stuff I noticed a boxed CROC 2, which was clearly a pirated release, but with quite nice carton box, all the plastic cases, etc. I talked to the shop owner and I got it really cheap or even free (don’t remember). When I got back home and launched it on my GBC I saw a DCS intro (here #27) linked in front of the game 🙂 Some Asian pirate… Read more »
Haha, nice story Sachy! I remember a couple of things from GBC days, both involved getting people into trouble (sorry!). [1] We released a Robocop game which we knew was by excellent GBC coder “d0x”, and thought it would be funny to put him as supplier in the intro…not thinking for a moment that his employers would (a) ever see the intro, and (b) know that nickname was Tomas… unfortunately, they did know and he got into some problems with his bosses. I apologised at the time, and if I ever bump into him I would apologise again – stupid… Read more »
No, sadly not! We (Rotox + I) were both in groups with Zelnik/Munchie over the years, and especially for “Cannon Fodder” we thought it would be cool to pretend it came from an Amiga supplier… at least they wouldn’t get into trouble 🙂
Yes, what I thought soo… When I saw Munchie credited back in the days, I was kinda surprised. Wow, I sad, that dude in supporting GBC now! Especialy with Uno’s CPL letters it made my GBC an Amiga day \o/. On the other side, when saw Zelnik, I did not believed too much. 😉
Phil’s around somewhere? Any Amiga temptation to lure him back? ;)) Still his crack of Amiga’s “Fate – Gates of Down” is a masterpiece. Althou the game itself was still left full of bugs makin it impossible to finish without Action Replay…
Thanks pmc/spiv 😛 The “green sinus wave in scroller optical illusion” as you so succinctly put it is an old c64 idea (sprites & inverted font on the background layer so you can see “through” the font), but it really was a pain to do on GBC because of the sprite limitations… much squared paper was used to work out where to place them so the sine works! My favourite is the “Monkey puncher” intro (CPL5 in this collection), because it actually looks better on real h/w (sprite trails + the sine-splitting logo are extremely blurred on the GBC LCD… Read more »
Cool stuff from the man – the legend – that is WayneK 😀 My favourite thing is the clever green sinus wave in scroller optical illusion. Just great all round 🙂

Great stuff. Good menu. Like it! Pity that the logo “intro collection” is soooo humble…
