Bag pipes chip tune?
Well Mutley/DCS was Scottish (and a friend from high school), so it’s possible 😛 But I think it’s just the wrong replayer…
My guess is the replayer used is killing that tune, since Mutley was a very talented musician and bits of the lead sound like a drowning cat playing the bagpipes… no finetune? or some other replayer bug 🙁
Disclaimer: I have not looked into the code.. but.. I would say it is just a halfbrite picture i.e. those fonts are on the 5th plane (transparency comes for free). There are actually 6 different colored bars and those are rasterized. So it would be 5 colors per bar, which would make 30 colors, 1 color for background and.. 1 unused color. Then in memory you have "huge" 32 colors picture with one full rotation and the rest is just making a copper list to change bitplane pointers for planes 0-4 in that "huge picture" based on some wave to… Read more »
Ok, so I’ve been thinking about how this was done…I guess a trick of using the blitter to make the changes in vertical color bars that only appear to be copper effects but aren’t? Cool effect. I like Dual Crew a lot in general.
