Probably no space left on disk. Crystal had plenty good intro’s to choose from so I can hardly believe there was another reason for using something as minimalist as this. Also heard this was never cracked 100% but it was a bitch to play-test as it’s an RPG.
This was during Crystals peak period, where they literally had two or more releases waiting in the wings the second this was done, its not due to room, simply time.
Also Phil Douglas released a version later that was 100%
I don’t really understand this… how does it take longer to type the intro text into a bigger/more impressive intro’s sourcecode than a basic/minimalist one used here? Or are you referring to the few seconds packing the exe (assuming it needed to be packed)?
Many groups managed to deal with multiple originals & still attach decent intros to the cracks!
You should know the answer to that 😉 No cracker spends the effort on a crack that they know other groups have got pissing around with a new cracktro that is untested, better to use what works and when you have the time, then see if the new cracktro from Dan or Fraxxion works properly. Its one of the major reasons Fairlight used the Gaston/Angel Dawn one for so long, it worked, and it was a cardinal sin for a crackro to be the cause of peoples problems.
