JJ (H.S) later did the Amiga versions of Turrican as a member of Factor 5 (TLC 1941).

My first memory of Crystal Hammer was in 1987 or so, a friend’s dad had an A1000 and Crystal Hammer. I couldn’t believe how great the sound effects were, as I had only played c64 games up until that point. Being in NTSC land, this song played considerably faster on our Amigas and now unfortunately my ears were trained to comprehend this song with a much faster tempo.

This was one of the very first intros I have ever seen on Amiga…in the time of the Movers, Hotline, Champs, Ian and Mic and all the others…I love the blizzard intro with the Sleepwalk tune… it was delightend to me in that time… 1987….

I am afraid my 68000-fu is weak these days 🙂

But it sure would be more fun than j2ee consulting…

Someone should make a "Sounds of ST01" musicdisk, with all the best early amiga mods that we all love… I vote Newton codes it, since he’s got E-UAE working now 🙂

i love the old st-01 mods.. karsten obarski, sll and those guys.

Just got E-UAE up and running on my mac yesterday and enjoyed an old intro of ours with the sll9 mod… hot damn thats nice.

hi. one of the first amiga intros that i got my eyes on. absolutely fantastic obarski tune mod.crystalhammer. i loaded the game to see the blizzard-logo-sprites bounce up and down. wasn’t 1987 a fantastic year?

anyone knows what happened to this early amiga group? to which groups did the members divide into?

i remember a demo with the xenon 1 music by whittaker from them. but seems they died somewhere in 1988

this has a very special place in my heart. When i bought my amiga i got a couple of games with it. One of these was crystal hammer, so i have been watching this intro sooo much. awesome music, and for me the scent of the scene… secret cool names and the arcane art of machinecode programming. I always wanted to code a simple scroller like this, but to do it in basic on the c64 wasn’t really working.

1 years later i was programming 68000.

Absolutely…I still get chills. Crystal was the first game I remember seeing on a friend’s Dad’s A1000 on a visit to his house. Of course, hearing it all those years in NTSC-Land makes it just seem to drag at PAL speed. Not all tunes are like this for me, but this one for sure. So epic, either way!
