Reminds me of the time we could BB over Australia Direct (along with the rest of Europe). Those must have been the hey days of Australian BBS’s. I remember logging in on Brewery / Bandit’s BBS on two modems simultaneously just before going to bed and pumping all the stuff I had been trading during the day. Those were the days when calling the US was pretty tough so we were always looking for the next country to support over BB. Yes I remember calling a BBS in Uruguay, for some reason it was reachable by BB for many years from the UK also. When BB ‘died’ (for most people *grin*) I had a long list of VMB systems with local outcalling, and matched that with various group HQ’s in the correct US areacodes 😛
I had the same, Meridian Mail was infamous for its’ ability to allow dial-out. And given local calls in the US were free/unlimited, the fraud did not show up as much. However, the toll-free side in Belgium was racking up massive amounts of minutes/call volumes and hence that was usually the reason they got shut down. Very low-risk versus credit cards / calling cards / BB. Another favorite was to hack answering machines and record an alternative recording saying that third-party billing was accepted for Mr. xyz. Good Times… I used to know Donatello back in the day and I get a greeting in the demo which is nice 🙂 Ginnie is still about on twitter quite regularly. There were quite a few releases with the same/similar style at the time.
Surprised at the need for a 100% crack of Retaliator, it was a pathetic Copylock.
First group to crack was Paranoimia. Not exactly the staple of quality… Cracked by TGR aka Hoan (often discussed on the forum here)
