If I were to code this I would use sprites for the overlapping part so that I would never need to care about anything than simple blitter copies without masking.
Thanks for that Codetapper, I figured it was a scrolling ‘trick’ but I couldn’t work out just from watching the intro how the overlaps were done (turns out they were done the only way they could possibly be, blitted w/ mask!).
The demo runs in dual playfield mode, with the background being one playfield, and the scrolling text the other. Each scanline of the background has a fine scroll value that positions it one pixel further to the left of the previous row. Every 16 scanlines, the whole display moves one word further to the left. The logo itself has been carefully drawn (80 pixels wide x 600 tall x 2 planes) and so that when it’s sheared horizontally, it still looks natural. A large copperlist makes the palette changes throughout the screen to maintain the illusion of having lots of… Read more »

pretty and original looking ‘tro …and nice chipstyle toon. for some reason, it reminds me of that big font scroller demo section in Dragons Megademo 😛 – rispek

I like this intro very much, I’ve never seen it before so quite nice to see it now. I feel like coding the effect myself on the Amiga just for the fun of it 🙂

Design is great and the effect is very clever. Dr. Spiv told me the technical specs of why the effect is clever 🙂
Fuckings to drunken DDT for forgetting to greet me, but otherwise I love this intro 🙂
Great background, nice colours/font, I don’t hate the tune but it could be better I guess – as Galahad said I think a synthetic tune would suit it more than a .MOD…
I like the intro, got some style to it. I would probably have preferred the tune if it was composed in Future Composer for better sounding instruments.
Errr….8/.. “Diarrhea on/of the wall”?
Very stylish. Like Siriax said, absolutely flawless.

Great effect with clever tricks!
Thats pretty much how i would do it myself, sometimes it is amazing how easy nice effects are to make 🙂

WPW COOL! This is very different one! LOVE IT!
perfect background, but the font doesn’t fit it very well.
all in all beautiful.
This is one of the best effects ever! I don’t mind the zik too much (it is good but no my style).

A stronger tune would have suited this one.
Nice Style, Nice Chiptune. Very good Intro!
RIPULIT SEINÄÄN :))
GREAT ONE!!!! lovely background stuff/colors … very good!
I like this one. Pretty and colourful and quite an unusual effect. Nice upscroller font and chiptune too. 🙂
Quite something new this background effect … Felt a bit weird at the beginning but I like it after a while … kudos 🙂
