argh.. so how this was originally done? 😉
You have a load of dots in in a pattern (blue dots here). Then you use the pattern to create blocks (x5 to match the 5 pixels high font). Store the blocks and their positions for easy access then run the scroller and check for pixels and if you get a hit, put that block on screen.

Heh.. advanced dot scroller. And on amiga how did it fill the blocks?
by dots I meant x&y points :P.
point 0 to point 1 to point to point 7 to point 6. = 1 block then point 1 to point 2 to point 8 to point 7. = second block ect.. probably blitter filled?? I never looked into how it printed the blocks. You end up with this https://www.flashtro.com/html5/pdxc/patt1.png and a separate table for the x & y positions.
Ye, the dot stuff is “obvious” now. That would quite a few line draws and one big blitter fill. Possible.. should check the original code 😀

The greatest Amiga crack intro of all time, basically because of MMM’s amazing scroller. I love everything about it, Madonna Freak/Crionics sausage PDX logo too 🙂
The scroller makes the show, music is decent too. Logo is not my cup of tea.
