Good to see the kind of chit-chat over a period of 3-5 years haha ; that was the passion that makes us all feel so nostalgic about our beloved machine – even 20+ years after the facts 🙂
Well, it’s a great looking prod, and it doesn’t bother me a bit to have a few *short* demos on here, in amongst a mostly crack-tro composition. Of course, if I was actually at this compo, and saw evidence of someone emerging from the can with a secret stash of floppies, I’d be all about calling some people on it. 😉
I like the tune too…fits the pace of the intro very well for me.
Funny isn’t it… I went down town with Del on saturday night. I mentioned all these "rumours" to him and he was flabbagasted… not least in the fact that Del has NEVER given me any code. That’s something that he acknowledges greatly…. 🙂 Maybe I’ll get him to come on here and confirm this…
Let’s face it, I was pretty successful already by the time I did this party intro.
It’s nice to see you on here Dan, but the stuff posted above wasn’t rumours. I was part of a group of people standing near the contest (including Spook & Lexicon/Digital) when it happened… You clearly became a very good coder, but it would be folly to claim that Del didn’t provide a great deal of your code/knowledge at this time in your scene-coding exploits 🙂
Sorry to ruin the "fun", but there were no rules broken during this competition. Either by myself or Paradroid. The competition allowed us to take in a disk with our start-up sequences, that were checked by Spook/Digital to make sure there was no other code in there other than start-up code, music player code and gfx files. As it happens, I coded this demo 5 times (once every night for the 5 days before the party), getting the time down from 8 hours to just under 2 hours (or was it one..? can’t remember exactly). Nuke can remember…he was staying… Read more »

I fail to see why using hardware sprites for vectors is considered cheating… Same for precalculated gfx, if he calculated them during the compo, where’s the cheating? That’s the thing, I was talking to him about it as he coded the intro, it was obvious how he was drawing the "vectors" (talking about paradroids intro) as the sprites were corrupted for a while and the vectors had been pre-rendered before the comp. He seemed quite open about it and as pre-made graphics were allowed in the rules, he hadn’t broken them unlike Dan who had to cheat. The funniest thing… Read more »
If he really needed 4 hours to just copy/paste these few routines, well, that’s not very good then. 😀 As the routines here are very simple. I always thought he was way too overrated anyway. The intro itself is not bad though.
Fatal light: yes, that’s the thing I was commenting about above 🙂
Good that someone else was there to see it, I remember I think Mungo/ATX and Lexicon/DTL were with me when we saw him do it – they both just laughed, apparently at the time Dan was well-known for "borrowing" big chunks of Del’s code!
I fail to see why using hardware sprites for vectors is considered cheating… Same for precalculated gfx, if he calculated them during the compo, where’s the cheating? Other than that, the flashtro doesn’t work for me, only get a white screen. 🙂 But I still remember the horrible colors of Paradroid’s intro. 😀 Can’t remember much of the Anarchy intro though.
I remember this at the Digital party.
Paradroids intro for Razor was still miles better than this, and even Paradroid’s intro was sort of cheating as it used hardware sprites for it’s vectors and a shit load of precalculated gfx..
Of course, some pre-made things were allowed in the comp like the kickos routine, gfx, music and replay routine.
I was also at that Digital Party, as I got most of Flash Productions to join Razor, Paradroids intro was excellent as to be expected.
Unfortunately Mr.T of Razor didn’t like that there were other Brits in the group that were going to crack and supply without needing his input, so he spread a rumour at the party that Razor in the UK was fake.
End result was Paradroid and Majic Mushroom by the end of the party had quit Razor to join Anarchy :/
Blazer: lets just say it wasn’t very realtime… 🙂 From not being able to disable the OS, to an almost finished intro in one quick visit to the toilet + insert of a disk…
Wow… it’s the infamous ‘realtime demo comp’ by Dan. Anyone who was at the party and hung around the stage where the realtime compo was held will know what I’m getting at 🙂 Still a nice-looking intro tho…

hellou dan, thk for your work in the amiga scene! anarchy rox! 🙂
Never? Not even when you were learning to code? Since that’s not what you told me directly at the Slipstream party in Bournemouth 🙂
Still, after 20+ years it’s hardly important… but please do get Del to visit Flashtro sometime!

Oops.. didn’t log in for that post!

LOL =D
weeee, finally all this cool things come up again 🙂
Pah 😀 4h is way too little for anything.. that requires anything more intelligent but reflexes..

Dan is lying… he didn’t code intro in 4 hours, he just glued existing pieces/routines together in 4 hours. :o_O
the bubble effect ist very nice and the sound is good too…
i don’t like the gfx+gfx colour!
bubbles <3
i like this.. very good logo and bubbles here 🙂
not working??

sry, but i think this is not a cracktro, but a small-demo and should not be promoted on this site.
nice gfx though, but i never liked that anarchy/phenomena style of music…

Very nice. I like the bubble effect.
