    1989 Pussy (Amiga)
1990-1993 Destiny – Energy – Fusion – Vision Factory – Agile (Sysop with Maddy of a BBS called ‘Metal Impact’)
    1994 Founded G.O.D. (Global OverDose)
1996 Hoodlum – Quartex (Took over ‘Metal Impact’)
Late 1996 : busted for the BBS and cards of different nature…
1997 Founded Bad Karma as a hobby :)

Based in that very small country called Belgium, where a lot of the scene nutcases came from. (The Red Baron/BS1 – Phil Douglas – Junior/Fusion – Wildcard/Skid Row – Misfit/Nemesis – Freud – Duncan/The Band – …)

Ask me anything and if I remember, I will gladly elaborate!

I met Phil Douglas twice. The first time was at the TRSI Eastern Conference in Louvain/Belgium. Not sure what group he was in at that moment ; I had just joined Vision Factory. Instead of hanging around for the techno party, a small group of people decided to hit the town. Phil, myself and I believe Metallica along with some other Skid Row-guys ended up in some african club and spent one hell of a night.

The second time was 18 months later at his house together with Freud. Phil was a great help cracking/training games for a group we had founded called G.O.D. (Global OverDose). Phil was in TKK then (Thrill Kill Kult ; a group he was in with Mok and some ex-Fusion members). He helped us with advice on patching/training games, even supplied us with an original (!) and sent us his cracks before they were released to the boards, so that GOD could put out a trainer before the competition (Anthrox) could :)

After that, contact frequency dropped and we never spoke/met again. To add to the legend: I can confirm that Phil succesfully cracked Pc and AGA games on his A500+, releasing them without ever being able to test the game. Pretty impressive :)

Bob Duncan I believe was German and has nothing to do with (Belgian) Duncan who was involved with The Band and who later founded Angels. I never met him in person. Had numerous chats with him on Flying Saucer BBS (Spreadpoint BHQ)

Colonel was a co-sysop on Metal Impact and a very good friend. He and I lost contact when I got busted which is about 10 years ago. What I’d give to have a talk with him!

hey TCB, what was the scene like around 1996, i would be assuming the amiga was almost dead around that time. were you you shifting to trading console or was there still much going on for the amiga?

Well, I have a double feeling about that period. There were still quite a few releases, but everyone knew the Amiga was dying. This meant there was hardly anyone interested in "investing" into this scene ; the result was a sort of monopoly by a few selected groups. Prestige is the best example of that and their Consoles-section Cream had a similar impact. (Especially for JAP-releases) Prestige had the resources and hardly any (real) competition. In the rare event they did have some competition, the talent of their members (Mok!) made the difference.

But 1996 was also the year when all BBS started to hit their all-time records ; especially in Europe. This was thanks to Telnet-access and the fact that with a relative low investment, you could run a lot of nodes. All of a sudden, it no longer mattered where a BBS was located and speeds up to 2000 or 3000 CPS were an incredible thing. Quite a few BBS’s ran Amiga / Consoles / PC (Games only) sections.

    Next, 4 things happened:
    1. Nobody wanted calling cards anymore, as they became scarce, unreliable and expensive. The downside was that the scene became global and was no longer a closed user group.
    2. The ‘normal’ BBS-nodes were hardly ever used and sysops started decomissioning them to the point BBS were "Telnet-only"
    3. The Amiga section started cluttering up with Aminet and PD-stuff and the rare ‘real’ release.
    4. Since people had to be on the internet anyway to get access to BBS, they started looking at different ways of getting their stuff. (Webpages, IRC, FTP’s)

In the end, BBS were only used by die-hard fans & nostalgia-freaks. And a new type of scene emerged: FTP-sites ; and we all know how the story went from there.

Come to think of it, even the scene is a cycle :)

Dirk (Mad Shitbrain aka Maddy) sold his Amiga in 1994 if memory serves me. He got a Pc and has turned into a ‘re-creative’ computer-user :) You can look him up on Google and you’ll find his personal website if you knew him well enough!
